He was known around the Roanoke Valley as The
Neon Man. Now, through the work of a friend, Mark
Jamison's memory may shine brighter than ever.
There are a lot of ways people cope with death. Slash
Coleman's involves the stage. The Richmond
playwright created a one-man show called The Neon
Man and Me in memory of his best friend Mark Jamison.
Jamison was a well-known neon artist in the Roanoke
Valley who was electrocuted last year while hanging a
sign. "I think just therapeutically, I started just to write
down memories of my friend," Coleman says, "and it
turned into this." Tuesday, Slash debuted part of his
show in front of students at Franklin County High
School, Mark's alma mater.
The Neon Man and Me will run this weekend at Mill
Mountain Theatre.
