Straight off the news: Richmond author-playwright Slash Coleman
will debut his comedy, "The Neon Man and Me," Oct. 14-16 at
Roanoke's Mill Mountain Theatre.
The world premiere is a one-man tribute to the life of 35-year-old
Mark Jamison aka "The Neon Man" -- who was electrocuted while
hanging a neon sign in January 2004. Coleman and Jamison
became best friends as students at Radford University.
Proceeds from the play will go toward expenses for Jamison's son,
Mark Jamison Thomas, whose first birthday is next Sunday.
The play is directed by Shanea N. Taylor, most recently seen in
Richmond Shakespeare Festival's production of "Romeo and
Juliet." For details, visit slashtipher.com or millmountain.org.
