The simple, unvarnished production and Slashtipher’s authentic, unmanufactured voice, combined with the poetic
beauty of his lyrics, make Conversations with a Southern Wonder-Boy one of the most welcome surprises of the
year. Highly recommended.
Tom Lisicki CEO Stash Tea (CD Baby website review)
Five of the eight songs from Conversations from a Southern Wonder-Boy,
Coleman's debut album which was released in 2004, comprise the soundtrack to
The Neon Man and Me. The songs, spread throughout the show, inspired one
audience member to call his performance "a poetic concert for the theater."
The album was recorded in friend Tom Lisicki's home which he converted into a
studio for the event. With a fancy Mac, a tangle of cords and tons of samples to
compliment Slash's original guitar work and voice, the album was recorded in ten
long days and then sent to Mississippi Studios for completion.
As slinky, intense, and penetrating as his native Virginia creeper, Coleman dazzles audiences with both his
quiet honesty and his stylish southern charm. Coleman is a thinking-man’s redneck, candidly doling out
sunshine from his saddlebags.

I am very pleased at what I heard. I did not know you had the real stuff, but I was very wrong. I like it very
much, and if you keep on with your particular style and lyrics you will no doubt in my book be just around the
corner of a newly needed sound. People need to hear it.
- The Southern Music Experience
The kind of music to kick off your road trip…Slash brings his honest tell-it-like-it-is voice, one that feels like
you hit some southern roadside bar to gas up and here's Slash taking you on a side road, a gravel voiced
highway to his heart.
